OMAR, CHIB VISIT HOSPITAL SEPARATELY

Srinagar, June1: In a surprise visit to GB Pant Hospital this morning, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah inspected new initiatives put in place by the government to improve the functioning of the institute.
Omar reviewed the status of the improvement and called for showing visible results in the performance and service delivery front by the hospital to the satisfaction of the general public. Chief Minister interacted with hospital management, paramedical staff and the parents of the children under treatment in the hospital. He said government is vigorously endeavoring to improve the functioning of the hospitals in the state.
Meanwhile, Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports R S Chib also visited G B Pant hospital to take stock of its functioning.
According to an official handout, the Minister went round various wards, interacted with the attendants and asked about the medicare facilities being provided in the hospital. He also took stock of the pace of renovation works going on in the hospital. These include work on toilet blocks, sanitation and general cleanliness of the wards and other sections of the hospital.
Later, the Minister chaired the meeting of officers to get the first hand appraisal of the functioning of the institute.
Addressing the meeting the Minister, according to the official handout, expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for his efforts in bringing improvements in the hospital and also granting approval for establishment of Children Hospital (advanced pediatric care centre) at Bemina along with the proposed Maternity Hospital which already stands sanctioned by the Union Government.
He said that Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare (UMHFW) has also sanctioned an amount of Rs 2 crores for the use of G B Pant hospital out of NRHM for providing better medicare to the patients.
