Shabir for timely, fair distribution of timber

Srinagar, June 1: Underscoring the need for time-bound extraction of timber from forests and its stocking at Sale Depots, Minister of State for Forests Shabir Ahmed Khan Friday stressed upon the Divisional Forest Officers and Forest Corporation authorities to ensure timely distribution of timber among the deserving consumers whose sanctions are pending from the past few years.
Interacting with deputations of different areas of Kashmir, Rajouri and Poonch districts, Shabir reiterated that the “government is committed to provide improved basic facilities and transparent governance to the people of state.” “Several bold and reformative steps have been taken to made the administration accountable at all fronts,” he said.
Directing transport authorities to keep close vigil on overloading, the Minister asked them to intensify checking on all routes so that “the menace of overloading is curbed.” This, he said, will help in reducing the incidents of road accidents especially on hilly routes.
Assuring people that their genuine demands would be redressed on priority, Shabir directed District Transport and CA&PD authorities to take necessary steps for improving transport facility and timely issuance of monthly ration in rural areas, especially those areas who are not accessible areas yet.
The deputations who met the Minister was hailing from Kupwara, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Qazigund, Rajouri and Poonch districts. The demands put forth by them to the Minister was bringing improvement in transport facilities, checking of overloading, timely distribution of monthly ration besides, providing of timber well in time.
