‘2 decomposed militant bodies found’

SHABIR IBN YUSUF

Srinagar, June 19: Police Tuesday said that it recovered two decomposed bodies of militants in Keran Sector of Kupwara district in north Kashmir.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Kupwara, Muhammad Irshad told Greater Kashmir that bodies were found by the Army during a search operation  in Dumarigali area of Keran Sector. “Ammunition pouches, biscuits, hand gloves, and ice axes, were recovered from the decomposed bodies. The recovery indicates that they are militants or their guides,” SP Irshad said adding that both may have died at least six months ago.
However, a senior Army officer in Srinagar said, that they believe they were either guides for militant tracks or were part of ex-filtrators. “Soon after summer ends some militants try to return back to other side. I think these two have not got time to return due to vigil on LoC,” said the army officer adding that the wait for their safe passage would have resulted in their death.
He said the areas where the bodies were found have no habitation (villages) around and the terrain is very difficult. “It was impossible for them to get food, medicine or any sort of assistance,” he added.
