ATM Fraudster arrested in Pampore

Srinagar, June 20: Awantipora police arrested an ATM fraudster who duped a gullible man of four lac rupees after offering his help for making a cash withdrawal transaction.
 Abdul Razak Ganie resident of  Gulzarpora reported to Awantipora police that he visited the ATM JK Bank, Awantipora for making transaction on 18th May 2012 where a boy rendered him help and made transaction for him after obtaining his ATM card and pin code.
 He further narrated that on 16th June, he again tried to make another transaction but to his surprise the transaction didn’t went through. When he approached concerned bank branch, he came to know that the ATM card which he was carrying is registered on the name of some other person and has been rejected before one month.
 A police spokesman said in a statement that Ganie received another jolt when he knew that  rupees 4 lacs have been withdrawn from his account through his ATM during last 25 days.
 Awantipora police registered a case FIR No.  86/2012 U/S 406, 420, 379 RPC and started to investigation. During investigation it came to fore that the complainant was duped by the person who helped him on 18th May. After making the transaction on his behalf he had replaced his ATM card and handed over back to him a rejected ATM card.
 Keeping close tab on the particular ATM card , Police came to know that the ATM card is being used at ATM J & K Bank, Pampore. Police instantly rushed to the spot and apprehended the person in the nick of time. He was identified as Umar Junaid Magray son of  Fayaz Ahmad resident Lethpora , Ladhoo road,  Awantipora. The ATM card was recovered from him on the spot.  An amount of Rs 3,76, 000/-  has been recovered from him.
