Hurriyat Conference (M) Gen Council to meet today
Strengthening forum, revival of units on agenda: Mirwaiz
Srinagar, June 20: The general council of Hurriyat Conference (M) is all set to meet at its Rajbagh headquarters on Thursday morning here.
“Strengthening of the Hurriyat Conference at different levels and deciding on future course of action with regard to the ongoing movement is on agenda,” Hurriyat Conference Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq told KNS.
In an effort to move ahead leaving the earlier differences behind, the Hurriyat Conference has asked all the general council members to attend the session. “We also intend to devise a programme for reaching out to people of the state,” said Mirwaiz.
The session of the general council is also believed to be significant in the backdrop of reservations expressed by certain members of the Hurriyat Conference with regard to receding involvement of the General Council in its day to day work. However, the Mirwaiz in an effort to control the damage done by the recent controversies within the Hurriyat Conference is believed to be putting in efforts to take everyone on board for its future programmes. In order to ensure discipline within the Hurriyat ranks, the conference has asked all its members to present their view point within the Hurriyat Conference in a cordial atmosphere.
Pertinently, the session had earlier been deferred in wake of commitments of some of its members to the programmes organized to observe the anniversary of late Dr Qazi Nisar.
According to Hurriyat sources, all the members of the conglomerate have been informed and asked to personally attend the session, however Mahaz-e-Azadi leader Azam Inquilabi has not been invited in wake of his snapping ties with the Hurriyat Conference. KNS
