Slathia launches extraction work on newly explored coal mine
Huge reserves expected to fetch `6 cr annually

Rajouri, June 20: Minister for Industries and Commerce, S S Slathia today launched extraction work at a newly explored coal mine, here at Bodhog Dali, Kalakote.
The new mine is expected to produce more than 50,000 tonnes of good quality coal which will help J&K Mineral Ltd to generate additional revenue of Rs.6.00 crore annually.
While addressing the gathering, the Minister appreciated the efforts of management and the workers for the hard work put in to launch the new extraction site.
The Minister asked the corporation authorities to give preference to the local youth of the area, while recruiting workforce for the extraction and other works. He said full fledge work on the mine would be started after installation of Haulage, ventilation system and other infrastructure.
He said the Corporation was expecting t huge reserves of quality coal in the area which has good potential in the market.
The Minister also addressed huge rally of coal mine workers in the Kalakote town and assured them that all demands relating to revision in wages and other genuine issues will be settled soon.
MLA Kalakote, while speaking on the occasion, extended his gratitude to the Minister and Management of JKML for improving the overall working of the corporation and ensuring timely release of wages to the workers which earlier used to be in backlog for months together. He requested the Minister and Management of JKML to explore possibility of opening of another mine at Bergoa. The Minister assured the MLA that the mine at Bergoa will also be opened after proper survey.
