Traders stage protest over water scarcity in Rajouri
RAJOURI, JUNE 20: A massive protest demonstration was staged by the Beopar Mandal, here on Wednesday, against water scarcity in the district.
The traders, under the banner of Beopar Mandal, assembled in the main town and took out a noisy protest demonstration against the PHE department alleging that the district was reeling under water shortage from last several months, while the government was acting like a mute spectator.
The protestors were shouting slogans against the state government and also burnt the effigy of Public Health Engineering minister as a mark of protest.
Beopar Mandal President Vijay Gupta said that the traders have given three days ultimatum to the department to streamline the water supply system in the district and particularly in the town otherwise “we shall be left with no option but to observe a shut down against the callous attitude of the government”.
