NC demands restoration of 1952 position

Srinagar, June 21: The National Conference on Thursday said that instrument of accession was based on three important components defense, foreign affairs and communication and as such the autonomy or 1952 position had to be restored to fulfill all the broken promises.
The General Secretary of National Conference (NC) Sheikh Nazir Ahmad said that party would continue to fight for restoration of sovereign character of the state.
Sheikh Nazir while interacting with various delegations at his residence said that in order to win the hearts of the people the promises should be kept as per the instrument of accession.
He said that it is the opposition parties who have all along eroded the constitution but assured that party would continue its political fight for the restoration of sovereign character of the state. He said that party would continue to follow the guidelines of late Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah. He said that Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah spent decades in prison but never compromised on his principles only for the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
He said that present leadership of NC would continue to fight for political rights, for which party leaders have offered supreme sacrifices.
The party general secretary said that the ongoing talks between India and Pakistan over resolution of Kashmir issue are because of the sacrifices being offered by Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah and other leaders for its resolution.
He said time is not far away when political solution in form of autonomy or pre-1952 position will be restored in the state.
He said that party has always worked as a bridge between the two countries and National Conference would continue to play its role in bringing the two countries closer for resolving all outstanding issues including the Kashmir issue.
