4 hurt, 7 shops gutted in major fire
POONCH, JUNE 22: At least four persons were injured and around 150 poultry birds were roasted, while property worth more than Rs one crore was gutted in a devastating fire which reduced seven shops to ashes during an overnight ablaze near Tote Wali Gali in tehsil Mendhar of district Poonch, sources said on Friday.
Sources said that after midnight at around 2:30 AM fire broke out in the shop of Fateh Munshi due to short circuit. “About 6 gallons of kerosene oil inside the shop caught fire and within minutes it engulfed six more shops ” they said.
The nearby people, who noticed the flames, raised alarm and tried their best to douse the flames but all in vain. “When people were trying to douse flames, explosions occurred in two domestic gas cylinders inside one of the shop, resulting into injuries to four persons” sources said, adding that all the injured were shifted to sub district hospital Surankote..
