Geelani, Shah, Nayeem, Javid under house arrest
Srinagar, June 22: Police on Friday put Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani, DFP supremo Shabir Ahmed Shah, NF chairman Nayeem Ahmed Khan, chief JKLF (H) Javid Ahmed Mir and chairman Salvation Movement Zaffar Akbar Bhat under house arrest.
According to spokespersons of respective parties, all the leaders were not allowed to offer Friday prayers as police cordoned off their houses since morning.
“‘Geelani sahib was allowed to offer Friday prayer only once this year. He was recently arrested when he was on way to attend the marriage ceremony of his grandson. After that he has been continuously placed under house arrest,” a spokesperson of Hurriyat (G) said.
Police arrested Salvation Movement Chairman Zaffar Akbar Bhat at Chanapora bypass when he was on way to address people at Hazratbal.
