Srinagar, June 23: Minister for Forests and Environment, Mian Altaf Ahmed today said that government has invited private investment for developing basic tourist infrastructure in Sonamarg.
The minister said that Sonamarg is fast emerging as one of the leading tourist destinations of the state, and there is need to development tourism infrastructure at the place.
The minister was speaking at a function after inaugurating two recreation parks and a VIP tourist hut at Sonamarg.
While the park at Hang Sonamarg spiralling over 12 kanals has been developed at Rs 40 lakh, the Sindh View Park on 20 kanals has cost Rs 25 lakh.
The state-of-the-art VIP tourist hut, Sonamarg has come up at a cost of Rs 18 lakh and has 3 bedded rooms and dining hall facilities.
The minister, according to an official statement, said that Sonamarg is the “most beautiful” tourist resort which needs more infrastructure to cope rush of ever-increasing visitors.
He said while the newly developed parks would provide recreation to the visitors, the VIP hut will give boarding and lodging facilities to the tourists visiting Sonamarg.
Meanwhile, Mian Altaf has urged the people to show “exemplary hostility” to the tourists and pilgrims to “win their goodwill so that they will again and again come on the visits of the state.”
During his visit, the Minister ordered construction of 4.30 kms road from Nariganwan to Gichkhud under PMGSY.
He directed the concerned for accelerating the construction of the road as soon as possible.
He directed the Sonamarg Development Authority (SDA) for construction of parking for the vehicles.
