New passport service from June 25: RPO
Srinagar, June 23: Regional Passport Office Srinagar will entertain passport applications only through Passport Seva Project (PSP) system from June 25 onwards.
“This has been done to render passport service in a time bound, transparent, modern and comfortable manner,” a statement issued by Passport Officer Srinagar Firdous Iqbal said. The statement said the applicants should visit www.passportindia.gov.in for online submission of forms. It said the appointments shall be released everyday from 4:00 pm onwards with a 15 day lead-time. Applicants can opt for a time-slot at the time of submission of forms besides walk-in option is available for the needy ones, the statement added.
Elaborating the procedure, the Passport Officer said the presence of the applicant is mandatory at Passport Seva Kendra (PSK), Regional Passport Office Srinagar, Boulevard near Nehru Park. He said the photographs, etc will be taken at PSK only with the applicants required to bring along all the relevant original documents with photocopies.
The applicants can also track the status of their applications or seek any other assistance by calling the Call-Center at 1800-258-1800 or by logging on to the website www.passportindia.gov.in.
Passport Officer clarified that the applicants who have already applied in the existing system, shall be informed about further action and may visit Regional Passport Office Srinagar for further assistance.
