PDP committed to mitigate woes of people: Mehbooba
‘Peace Impossible Without Resolution Of Kashmir’
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, June 23: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti today said that good governance and political initiative were the hall mark of tenure of Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.
Addressing workers’ meeting at Ganderbal, Sumbal and Hajin towns, Mufti said that it is her party's conviction that there can be no permanent peace and prosperity in the state without resolution of Kashmir problem.
“It is also a fact that providing good efficient corruption-free governance is basic requirement for creating conducive atmosphere for any kind of solution to Kashmir issue. This is the most important reason for success of Mufti Muhammad Sayeed as Chief Minister”, she said and added that Mufti Sayeed had started with providing people a sense of security, good accountable administration followed by a new era of development.
“Mufti Sayeed as Chief Minister had tried to remove the distrust of Delhi leadership towards Kashmiris, making small facilities like mobile service up to big dreams like opening of Muzaffarabad road possible,” she said.
“The present National Conference-led government had made very tall promises of overall development of the state, had also promised to provide free electricity and employment to every family including 8th pass youth,” she reminded and observed that more than three and half years have passed but except for mis-governance and corruption National Conference government has given nothing to people.
“All the money coming for development of the state is being siphoned off by the present government for their own benefits. People are suffering for want of basic amenities like good roads, water, power etc”, she regretted, adding, “Government jobs, transfers, promotions are on sale, as has been the trade mark of National Conference regimes”. She further said that contracts worth crores are also on sale for highest bidder and even the payments made in lieu of work is done on basis of favoritism.
“PDP which has come up as a better alternative and is committed to work harder to mitigate the problems of the people”, she said, adding, “PDP is committed to transform the system to the extent to make it accountable so that common man gets justice”.
Speaking on the occasion, senior leader Moulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari said that National Conference leadership had always used power for their personal gains and were least concerned about the welfare of the people.
Senior leader and district president Qazi Muhammad Afzal said that Ganderbal being represented by three National Conference Chief Ministers was lacking in every manner till PDP government took over in 2002. He made mention of the number of developmental works like college, mini secretariat etc which were taken up in Ganderbal during PDP government.
