ED Bank told to achieve targets under financial inclusion

Srinagar, June 24: N K Chari, Chief General Manager, State Bank of India, Chandigarh Circle, today said that Ellaquai Dehati Bank should strive to achieve the targets allocated to it under Financial Inclusion programme.
Emphasizing the need for improving the C D ratio, Chari said that the Bank should reach to the common people living in rural areas and work for their economic betterment.
He emphasized the need for a good customer relationship.
Chari stressed on the bank to be KYC/AML compliant.
He said it is his endeavor to see EDB growing and reaching to the higher levels of performance, which urging the Bank to work in synergy with its sponsor bank for providing efficient banking services to the customers.
“EDB should work in tandem with its sponsors for providing hassle-free and efficient services to its customers” Chari said during his visit to the ED Bank headquarters, here today.
He said that EDB should work as an extended arm of its sponsor bank in its area of operation and provide customer friendly products to the customers.
He emphasized the need for devising a plan to achieve the desired results. “To realize the vision of the bank, which is to be the most preferred rural financial institution of the State, it should devise short term, medium term and long term plans and continuously monitor the achievements and if needed suitably revise these plans to achieve the desired goal”, he said.
A K Razdan, Chairman ED Bank on the occasion gave a brief account of the work carried out by the Bank for the economic and social development of the society and highlighted the achievement of the Bank during last two years through a Power Point Presentation.
He said the EDB has emerged a major contributor supporting the economic activities at grass root level.
He said that bank’s CD ratio has considerably improved in last two years despite the fact that the average CD ratio in the State has moved southwards during the corresponding period.
Razdan said that with the support and handholding of the sponsor bank, the EDB branches were put on CBS platform and NEFT facility for funds transfer were extended.
