Firing, explosions irk Humhama

Locals shoot SOS to VIP residents

GK CITY CORRESPONDENT

Srinagar, June 24: The residents of Humhama including the high profile Friends Enclave have complained that a BSF camp in the area has been holding firing and explosion practices, which they said, was hazardous for the public.
The residents said that for the past few days, apart from firing, explosions can be heard from the camp located between the Humhama and the Rangreth heights.
“This is for the first time that some explosions are triggered presumably in practice of throwing hand grenades,” the residents said.
Given the bangs, the locals said they find it inconvenient to live in the area. Medicos fear that   there was a threat to the life of heart patients and the elderly. “Given the noise pollution, there’s every threat to the life of any heart patient living in the area as he or she may suffer a heart attack,” said a medico resident adding that “continued exposure to noise pollution of deafening proportions wasn’t good for health.”
The residents have shot SOS to their high profile neighbours including Divisional Commissioner Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon and senior Congress leader Prof Saif-Ud-Din Soz to look into the matter.
Despite repeated attempts the concerned BSF camp couldn’t be contacted for comments.
