Nasir inaugurates 1st Sopore T-20 cricket tournament

Sopore, June 24: Minister of State for Home, Nasir Aslam wani on Sunday inaugurated 1st Sopore T20 cricket tournament at Khushal Sports Stadium, here. The event is being organised by J&K Police and in it 56 teams of town Sopore are participating.
Nasir who was chief guest on the occasion formally declared the event open by setting pigeons free and helium balloons into the blue sky. MLA Sopore, Muhammad Ashraf Dar was also present at the event. He interacted with all the team captains and shook hand with them.
Among other prominent dignitaries present were IGP Kashmir SM Sahai , GOC Kilo Force, DIG North Kashmir Baramulla and several other officers from police and Army and various other departments including J&K Sports Council, Education, Revenue, Forest, R&B, Department of Flood Control, etc graced the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion Nasir congratulated J&K Police in general and Sopore Police in particular for organising the grand event.
He said J&K Police is presently one of the best police forces in the country, the fact testified by the Prime Minister of the country.
“I have not seen any sports event organised here in the valley with such a zeal and zest” he said.
He promised to develop the Khushal Sports Stadium to a standard by the next summer for which an amount of rupees two crores has already been earmarked.
Earlier speaking on the occasion, Superintendent of Police PD Sopore, Imtiyaz welcomed all the guests and thanked them for their presence and support.
He informed that the event has been organised by District Police Sopore in collaboration with J&K Sports Council with the sole aim of bridging the gap between Police and the people especially the younger lot.
An exhibition match of 15 overs was also played between Sopore Blue and Sopore Red. Cash prize was presented to the player declared man of the match.
