Power generation
The statement of chief minister regarding the power crisis is based on the fact that J&K's power deficit is growing day by day, and instead of expecting any improvement the public has to be ready for the worse. Among the possible solutions is the increase in generation, decrease in power theft, and improvement of the distribution system. People have to pay for the power they use but the PDD has to set its house in order. It is in the close nexus of the PDD employees that certain people resort to power theft at liberty. Unless changes and improvements are made it is futile to install meters. In fact installation of meters in many cases gives rise to corrupt practices between the PDD employees and the people. Countries like Saudi Arabia, where most of the power generation is done by using fuel like Diesel (and Diesel is a very cheap commodity in that country), but people still pay for the power they use. Politicians over the years have given us the impression that since J&K's power generation is done by using its water resources, so we don't need to pay for the power we use.
