Shrine loss irreparable: KCCI
Srinagar, June 27: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) today termed the loss of shrine of Peer Dastageer Sahib (RA) at Khanyar, here, as irreparable.
Expressing profound grief and sorrow, the chamber said: “The gutting of the shrine has pained the entire Muslim community and it was indeed a sad day for Kashmir.”
The shrine gutted in a devastating fire on June 25.
“The shrine was the centre of spiritual devotion and source of solace for legions of devotees who would visit the holy place,” it said in a statement.
“The KCCI mourns this loss, which indeed is irreparable, and appeals to the administration to order immediate reconstruction of the shrine on its previous pattern,” it said.
“We also demand that necessary fire safety audit be carried out at all the shrines and religious places in Kashmir so that incidents like this are averted in future,” the chamber said.
