Debris removed from Dastageer Sahab (RA) shrine; fencing work apace
MUKEET AKMALI
Srinagar, June 28: The State government has started work on fencing around the Shrine of Dastgeer Sahab (RA) at Khanyar here on war-footing basis.
“We have been instructed to erect iron rods on which CGI sheets will be fixed, which will act as a wall between the place of shrine and the road adjacent to it,” said a laborer among 10 who have been deployed to erect CGI sheets around the shrine.
“Work is on going for last two days, we have almost completed erecting iron rods on the front and left side of the gutted shrine of Dastgeer Sahab (RA), now only one side is left. Hopeful in a day or two, we will finish the work. Then after we will fix CGI sheets on the iron rods,” an iron smith said.
According to an official wishing not to be named who was present at the site said the work was started after Chief Minister visited the 200 –year old shrine.
“Administration had apprehension that devotees in large number would come and visit the site and that will hinder the reconstruction work that has to take place. So we have decided to first erect a high CGI sheets wall around the shrine, so that reconstruction work can go on hassle free.”
“Government is planning to start reconstruction work as soon as possible and for that deliberations are going on with different agencies for chalking out the strategy,” he said adding CM is personally keeping a vigil on the reconstruction work.
He added that all the debris and left over after the fire incident has been removed from the site and newly constructed building adjacent to old shrine building is being used to offer prayers at this time.
When asked about that whether removal of debris from the site would hamper investigation. He said: “Samples have already collected by the FSL team and removal of debris won’t have any impact on the investigation.”
