286185 persons get financial assistance every month: Govt
Srinagar: At least 286185 person belonging to weaker sections of the society of Kashmir Division are being paid Rs. 8.74 Crore as financial assistance every month by the social welfare Department Kashmir under which Rs. 192 Crore in total are being paid every year to the widows, old aged persons and physically challenged persons under various welfare schemes of the Department, an official spokesman said on Saturday.
Quoting Director Social welfare Department, the spokesman said, under various schemes the 154601 old age man and women are being paid Rs 5 crore as monthly pension while as 61422 widows, and divorced women are being paid Rs. 1.31corer every month as financial assistance and more than Rs. 2.89 corer are also being paid every month to 70162 physically challenged persons in the Valley.
