Dr Kamal pitches for ‘restoration of autonomy’
Says Kashmir A Political Problem, Not A Financial Matter
GK NEWS NETWORK
Sumbal (Sonawari), June 2: National Conference Saturday reiterated its demand for restoration of autonomy and revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).
Addressing a party workers’ convention here on Saturday, Additional General Secretary Dr. Mustafa Kamal said that “New Delhi has always been supporting and helping us economically and has been generous enough to ensure that we develop the state. But Kashmir is not a financial matter. It needs a serious initiative to ensure that we address the political aspirations of the people of the state.”
Kamal said: “Political aspirations of the people can be only addressed when all the stakeholders put their heads together and understand the importance of restoring autonomy. Sooner or later everyone has to agree with National Conference because we have sacrificed a lot and no one can deny us the right to autonomy.”
Kamal said “We must should strengthen the hands of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who is working overtime to ensure that a new dawn of peace , prosperity, progress and a political solution is achieved and our people feel safe and economically sound.”
“Omar Sahib has everywhere maintained that resolution of Kashmir issue should be addressed through political means and the autonomy document which has been recommended by Justice Sageer committee should be restored,” he said.
Talking about the history of Kashmir and the “contribution” of Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah, Kamal said “Kashmiris were slaves and it was Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah who fought against the tyranny and atrocities of those rulers and gave democratic and property rights to people of the state.”
Member Parliament Sharief-ul-Din Shariq while lashing at the Opposition Peoples Democratic Party said “they are a creation of BJP to eliminate people of Kashmir.”
He alleged that “under a well-planned conspiracy PDP Patron was appointed Home Minister to eliminate people of Kashmir and he along with then Governor Jagmohan succeeded in their mission.” But, Shariq said, “now the party and loyal soldiers will give their blood to ensure that such politicians bite the dust and don’t emotionally blackmail people anymore.”
