JKCTA members attend convention
JAMMU, JUNE 4: A delegation of J&K College Teachers Association, led by President J&K CTA (Jammu Wing), Dr Avinash Kumar Gupta along with Advisor Dr Vijay Kumar Sharma, Vice-President, Prof. Ranjeet Singh Jamwal and Treasurer Dr Neeraj Gupta attended a one-day convention of College & University teachers of the Northern States in Chandigarh yesterday.
The convention was held under the aegis of All India Federation of University & College Teachers Organizations (AIFUCTO) and hosted by Punjab University Teachers Association (PUTA) in connection with the Golden Jubilee year of AIFUCTO.
“In the meeting it was felt that the State Governments do not understand the policy perspective of UGC and Government of India, which was reflected in the failure of in toto implementation of UGC notifications by the State Governments.”
Dr Avinash Kumar Gupta said the API score guidelines need to be reviewed for college teachers, considering the fact that facilities for conducting research work in the colleges still does not exist. “Further, the UGC deadline for orientation/refresher courses should be extended, as it was not possible for teachers to attend the same during the academic sessions.”
It was unanimously decided to form a coordination committee of University & College teachers Associations to take up the issues with the UGC and HRD ministry, a communiqué said.
