RAJOURI, JUNE 5: Agitated over the “indifferent” attitude of the state government, local residents and some political workers today started a funds raising campaign for undertaking repair and widening work of two roads in this township.
The political activists and local residents assembled at Rajouri - Thanamandi road near the District Hospital premises and stated a anti-government protest demonstration for allegedly neglecting the years old demand of undertaking repair of road from Khachar Ground to Darhali Morh and widening of another road from Gujjar Mandi to Khachar Ground.
Led by various political activists, PDP District President Abdul Qayoom Dar, Awami National Conference District President Mushtaq Ahmed, PDP leaders Muhammad Ayoub Wani, Tazeem Dar , Sarpanch Choudhary Nar and Beopar Mandal leader Shamsher Malik, the protestors blocked the vehicular movement for more than two hours.
District President PDP Abdul Qayoom Dar said that the road condition from Khachar Ground to Darhali Morh is in bad condition and the concerned department has turned a deaf ear towards the plights of the local residents.
Later the activist initiated funds raising campaign seeking public donation to undertake the repair and widening works of the roads. “As the government has no money to pay, we have decided to raise the money from the local population”, said Tazeem Dar, who is leading the campaign.
