Employees announce fresh 4-day protest programme

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

Jammu, June 8: The Joint Consultative Committee, an umbrella organization of employees, on Friday said that they would organize a four-day protest in support of their demands from June 13.
Senior leader of the JCC, Muhammad Gafoor Dar, said the employees across the state would gherao the secretariat from June 13 to June 15, while on June 16 they will take out a protest march to the Governor House in Srinagar to press for their demands.
Dar also said that the employees would observe a day-long 'Tala bandh hartal' on June 16.
"On 13th the employees headed by Khursheed Alam will gherao the secretariat, while the next day Abdul Qayoom Wani will be leading  the employees. On June 15, I will head the employees towards the secretariat", Dar said.
"On June 16 we have appealed all our employees to maintain a 'tala bandh hartal' throughout the state and march to Srinagar to gherao the Governor House in Rajbagh", he said.
In Jammu the employees will assemble in front of the Divisional Commissioner's office and hold a protest rally there, Dar added.
The employees were demanding implementation of the agreement signed between the government and the employees' representatives last year.
They are demanding a regularisation policy for the daily rated workers, casual labourers and need based workers engaged after 1994.
