Protests against PDD in Darend

Ganderbal, Mar 10: Hundreds of residents of Darend village here today protested against the Power Development Department authorities for failing to repair the transformer in their area. They blocked the Srinagar-Sonarmarg National Highway for hours resulting in the blockage of the vehicular movement.
The protesters alleged that 100 kv transformer installed in their village has got damaged eight times in just one month. “The PDD authorities are not repairing the transformer properly. We have come to know that more than Rs one lakh has been spent to repair the transformer till now,” they claimed.
They demanded a new transformer for the village and ended the protest after SHO Ganderbal Arshid Khan assured them he will take up the matter with the PDD authorities.
