DIG North Kashmir inaugurates Sports Festival
Baramulla, Mar 12: DIG North Kashmir Range, Muneer Ahmad Khan inaugurated the second North Kashmir Indoor Sports Festival at Baramulla.
2nd Indoor Sports Festival organised by JK Police, was inaugurated today by DIG North Kashmir Range, Baramulla Muneer Ahmad Khan at Jhelum Indoor Sports Stadium, Janbazpora here.
SP Baramulla, Dr Muhammad Haseeb Mughal in his welcome address highlighted the purpose and importance of the festival. He said that the festival is one of the many steps taken by JK Police towards helping youth to recognize their potential. He said that this initiative will go a long way in developing the sports talent of the participants.
Large number of players belonging to the range have registered themselves to play for different indoor sports disciplines including Badminton, Table Tennis, Power Lifting, and Body Building etc. The events shall begin from tomorrow as per schedule.
GOC 19 Div, Bipin Rawat was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In his address, the Chief Guest lauded the efforts of Police in general and Baramulla Police in particular for organising the festival and other civic action programmes.
A painting competition was also held on the occasion in which several school children participated. The best three painters were given cash prizes. The first position went to Sobiya Mushtaq of Bandipora, the second position was bagged by Noor Mughal of KV School, Baramulla while as Hyiqa Shafi of Public School Baramulla bagged the third position. Besides an exhibition Badminton match was also held.
