Eve-teasing,smoking complaints from near educational institutions
SYED IMRAN ALI HAMDANI
Srinagar, Mar 13: Complaints of eve-teasing and smoking have poured in with people saying that the menace prevails more near the City centre educational institutions including colleges.
The complainants said that not one or two but dozens of youth are seen sitting in the rear of a leading college campus where they allegedly resort to drug abuse.
“Smell of narcotics like Charas hang in the air while youth are seen puffing in the area,” said a delegation of elderly citizens.
The complainants said eve-teasing has become a routine near the Lal Mandi footbridge.
“We tried to stop some Road Romeos but they in retaliation abused us and managed to flee away from the spot,” said some locals living in the nearby Abi Guzar area.
When contacted SP East Zulfikar Ahmed said the matter would be strictly looked into.
“We will ensure that no such complaints again pop up from these areas,” the SP told Greater Kashmir adding that strict action would be taken against the miscreants.
