Meter installation triggers protest in Ganderbal

Ganderbal, Mar 14: Residents of Dhobipora here today staged protest against PDD for launching a drive to install meters in the area.
Reports said protest erupted after a group of PDD officials started installing meters in the area. The residents shouted slogans against the PDD and blocked the Srinagar-Leh highway for many hours forcing the officials to cancel the meter installation.
"We won’t allow installation of meters until the PDD authorities first replace old wires and electric poles and provide round the clock power supply. Later SHO Ganderbal pacified the protesters assuring to take up the matter with higher authorities.
