Reject Privilege Motion moved by NC: Baig to speaker
GK NEWS NETWORK
Jammu, Mar 14: Opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has termed the privilege motion moved by National Conference (NC) legislators related to money mess in Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) as baseless and demanded to reject the same.
As the proceedings of Question Hour started this morning senior PDP leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig stood up and said, “We have received the notice regarding Privilege Motion against the six PDP MLAs in which it has been written that PDP had presented documents in the LA regarding embezzlement of funds in JKCA. But I wanted to clarify it that our adjournment motion regarding embezzlement of funds in JKCA was rejected. We had demanded discussion but were not allowed” he said, and questioned that when they had presented the documents.
Baig further rued that the Privilege Motion was totally baseless and groundless and same should be rejected. Speaker Muhammad Akbar Lone acknowledged Baig’s concern and asked him to give it in writing.
Meanwhile, PDP President Mehbooba Mufti while taking strong exception to Privilege Motion said that the state government was trying to bulldoze the opposition.
Addressing media persons outside the LA Mehbooba Mufti said, “Muzaffar Hussain Baig explained in the assembly that we had not presented any documents in the house. We were waving some documents, but I want to ask the government how could they know that documents were genuine or fake when same were not presented in the house”.
She said the PDP has sufficient evidences to nail down JKCA president Dr Farooq Abdullah who was obviously involved in huge embezzlement of funds.
“It is not possible that fake accounts of JKCA were opened and huge embezzlement of funds took place without the knowledge of Dr Farooq Abdullah,” she rued, adding that if Ghulam Muhammad Saroori and Suresh Kalmadi could be nailed, why not Dr. Farooq Abdullah?
