Opposition grills Malik over sanctioning of new colleges
Jammu: The opposition members today grilled minister for Higher Education, Abdul Gani Malik over what they said arbitrary sanctioning of new colleges, while ignoring the deserving areas.
National Panthers Party and two ousted BJP legislators staged walkout from the Assembly accusing the Minister of being partial while sanctioning the new colleges in the state.
NPP legislator, Harshdev Singh, while raising a supplementary to the question asked by G M Saroori regarding creation of infrastructure in newly opened colleges, said that the Higher Education Minister has arbitrarily sanctioned Degree Colleges in the state “in violation of norms.”
“It is very unfortunate that you have sanctioned a college for your home village, ignoring the fact that your Tehsil already had a college which has enrolled just 31 students,” Harshdev said.
He was joined by Balwant Singh Mankotia and two ousted BJP legislators Bharat Bhushan Bodhi and Master Lal Chand.
Later, all the agitating legislators staged walkout from the House at 10:30 AM to register their protest.
