EMBARRASSMENT FOR GOVT

Jammu, Mar 15: Brewing discontent among its members put the coalition government in an embarrassing situation on Thursday when senior Congress leader and former Minister , Muhammad Sharief Niaz, staged a walkout from the Legislative Assembly alleging that the questions asked by him were being ignored.
As the Assembly proceedings began, Niaz was on his feet alleging that his questions were being ignored. “Since the assembly session is on, not a single question among those put by me was taken up for the reply by the government. The questions of legislator who remain disciplined in the house are not taken, while queries of those who create ruckus and indiscipline are being taken up every now and then,” he alleged.
He lamented that it was unfortunate that during his 25 year long political career he is for the first time staging walkout from the house. After saying these words Niaz staged walkout from the house at 10:04 AM.
Taking cognizance of the complaint of the member, the Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone immediately gave a clarification and said, “On 28th of February question number 6, on 6th March question number 4 and on 9th of March question number 5 of Niaz were in the question list,” he said.
“Generally 10 questions are on priority but due to reasons known to all the members these were not taken up for the government reply. The MLA knows it very well and he should join the proceeding of the House,” the Speaker said.
