Education department defunct: JKTF
Jammu, Mar 19: Jammu and Kashmir Teachers’ Forum (JKTF) on Monday said that school education department remaining headless has made it defunct.
“The Forum, at a meeting with its chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani in chair urged the chief minister to personally intervene to solve the problems faced by the teaching fraternity,” a spokesman of JKTF said in a statement.
He appealed the officers of education department not to succumb under the pressure of politicians and don’t allow political interference in the department which is the root cause of corruption, favouritism, red tape-ism and injustice.
“More than seven districts in the state are without CEOs, thousands of lecturer posts are lying vacant, more than 100 principals posts in the education department/confirmation files of EVs still undecided. Cabinet decision regarding regularization of in-charge head masters/ lecturers has not been implemented. Too many posts of ZEOs are lying vacant in each and every state of the district. More than 20,000 subject teacher posts are lying vacant in education department. Problems of ReTs are still unsolved.”
Pertinently, the Education Minister Peerzada Muhammad Sayeed was divested of education portfolio on February 9, this year, after an enquiry report submitted by the Crime Branch alleged that he had misused his official position to help his son qualify class-X examination in 2009.
