Govt action vindicates our stand: DAK
Srinagar, Mar 24: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) has hailed the Government action against tainted officials of the Health Department claiming that it vindicated its stand.
The Association, at a meeting held here with its president Dr Nissar-ul-Hassan in chair, discussed various important issues confronting the Health Department. The meeting hailed the Government action against former BMO, Chadoora, and former BMO Kupwara who were allegedly found involved in the irregularities of funds. It appreciated the role of Commissioner Secretary health and medical education and Director health services, Kashmir, for their action against theses officials.
“The former BMO, Chadoora, has been suspended while the former BMO, Kupwara, attached and demoted as assistant surgeon to district hospital, Budgam. Both theses officials were promoted out of turn throwing the norms to winds. Their illegal and undo promotion had demoralized the senior officers of the department. Irony of the situation is that one among them had been posted as in-charge medical superintendent of JLNM Hospital, Srinagar, which is equivalent to the rank of deputy director health service,” said a spokesman of DAK in a statement.
“Once theses doctors were illegally promoted, we had knocked the doors of all the concerned quarters, but unfortunately our repeated pleas fell on deaf ears for the reasons best known to the authorities. After surfacing of these irregularities, DAK’s stand was vindicated,” he said.
“DAK has a clear stand that promotions, placements and postings should be purely on seniority and merit and all these administrative posts should be advertised in leading newspapers and the present system of clandestine method of appointments should be abolished for making the system transparent,” he said.
“DAK strongly demands that all sorts of irregularities, favouritism and nepotism should be stopped or else DAK will be left with no option other than to resort to state wide agitation and the onus of the responsibility will be on the authorities,” he added.
