Students take out rallies in Pulwama, Shopian
WORLD TB DAY
Srinagar, Mar 24: District TB Society Pulwama organized an awareness camp on the occasion of World TB Day at Old Hospital in Pulwama today.
On the occasion, a students rally was taken out from the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Pulwama, to the Old Hospital Complex. Students of Paramedical Institutes of Pulwama including Phoenix, Sky Lark, Dolphin and Noorani also participated in the rally.
The gathering was addressed by the Chief Medical Officer, Pulwama, Dr Showkat Ahmad Laloo, Medical Officer DTC Pulwama, Dr Muhammad Rafiq, BMO Pulwama, Dr Ramesh Kumar, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital, Pulwama, Dr Muhammad Maqbool, BMO Tral Dr Praladh Singh, and the Medical Officer Treatment Unit Tral, Dr Kifayatullah.
Other Staff members including senior pharmacist supervisor Showkat Ahmad Andrabi and Hamidullah Magray also spoke on the occasion.
“The total patients registered for treatment in Pulwama district in 2011 were 778 out of which 590 are smear positive. The district has achieved the target of case detection rate of more than 70% and cure rate of more than 90% as per WHO guidelines,” said the DTO Dr Muhammad Rafiq.
The District TB Society Pulwama also organized a similar awareness camp at district headquarters, Shopian, which was addressed by the CMO Shopian and the Medical Officer Treatment Unit, Shopian.
