Issue of ‘unfit’ KPS selectees discussed in LC
GK NEWS NETWORK
Jammu, Mar 28: Members of the Upper House today expressed serious concern over denial of posting orders to seven qualifiers of Combined Services Competitive Exams 2010-11 batch on the plea of not having requisite physical fitness for police services.
The issue was raised by National Conference MLC Khalid Najeeb Suharwardy in the Legislative Council.
Suharwardy said that Jammu Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) had recommended names of 189 candidates to the General Administration Department (GAD).
“These candidates qualified the 2010-11 exams were called for medical examination. Further, out of 189 selected candidates, joining orders of 162 were issued against the posts in the Junior Scale of Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Services, Jammu and Kashmir Police (Gazetted) Services, and Jammu and Kashmir Accounts (Gazetted) Services. Out of 189 candidates, 21 candidates were left for want of requisite physical standards for police services. Further 14 candidates having backing were absorbed by giving relaxation to them. But seven candidates were denied the same despite vacant posts.”
Suharwardy said it was nothing but clear injustice to these youth of far flung rural areas. Winding up the discussion, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Sagar said that as per information available with him, appointment letters were not issued to these candidates as they had not fulfilled the criteria laid down for police services. They were allotted police services on merit basis.
He assured the house that these candidates would be adjusted subject to the availability of vacant posts.
