Ministers spend Rs 169.81 lakh on tours in 2 years
Official Records Reveal CM Has Not Visited Any Constituency In 2010-11

Jammu, Mar 30: The government records reveal the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has not visited any constituency of the state during the year (2010-11), while other ministers have expended Rs 169.81 lakh on tours to various parts of the state between 2009 to 2011.
Interestingly, the official records furnished in the Legislative Assembly show Rs 3.23 lakh expenditure on tours and visits conducted by Chief Minister during the year 2009-2010, while for following year (2010-2011) the expenditure has been shown as nil.
The details provided by state government in reply to the question of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) legislator Bharat Bhushan also revealed that Minister for Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Science and Information and Information Technology, Aga Syed Rahullah did not spend even a single penny from the state exchequer on tours.
The total expenditure borne by other ministers and their staff on the visits and tours to different areas during last two years (2009-10, 2010-11) has been shown as Rs169.81 lakhs, including Rs 76.96 lakhs in the year 2009-10 and 92.85 lakhs in year 2010-11.
Tourism and Culture minister Nawang Rigzin Jora tops the list of ministers, by spending Rs 8.78 lakhs during 2010-11 and Rs 8.16 lakhs during 2009-10, while the officers who accompanied him cost the state Rs 1.61 lakhs in 2010-11 and Rs 1.68 lakhs in the year 2009-10.
Tourism Minister is followed by deputy chief minister Tara Chand, who has spent Rs 6.05 lakhs during 2010-11 and Rs 4.24 Lakhs in 2009-10 and the expenditure on his staff has been recorded at Rs 2.02 lakhs and Rs. 1.47 lakhs during the year 2010-11 and 2009-10 respectively. Minister for Technical Education R S Chib consumed Rs 6.20 lakhs in the year 2010-11 and his staff expended Rs. 2.80, while in the year 2009-10 same minister spent Rs. 3.99 lakhs and his staff Rs 1.52 lakhs .
The details furnished by state government also revealed that minister of state for Forest, Environment and Ecology, Transport, CAPD and Power Shabir Khan, spent Rs. 4.34 lakhs on his visits, while his staff consumed Rs. 4 lakhs during 2010-2011.
