Statistics, Urdu deptts win cricket matches
JU INTER-DEPARTMENT SPORTS MEET
Jammu, Mar 30: Department of Statistics and Department of Urdu won their respective matches to reach the next round of the ongoing inter-department cricket tournament of University of Jammu campus, here today.
Earlier, in the first match of the day, Statistics defeated Kathua Campus by 36 runs. Batting first, after Kathua won the toss and opted to field, Statistics made 135 runs for seven in given 20 overs. Raja was main scorer with 47 runs while Abhimanyu and Sunny contributed 20 and 13 runs respectively, From Kathua, Amit claimed four wickets, followed by Lalit and Udit, who shared apiece each.
In reply, Kathua Campus could not chase the total and bowled outf or 100 runs in 15.4 overs. Mukesh remained top scorer with 13-ball 25 runs and Naresh contributed 13. Sahil, Sandeep, Raja and Hardeep shared two wickets each from Statistics.
Meanwhile, in another match of the day, Department of Urdu registered an impressive seven wickets win over Department of Geography.
Earlier, batting first, Geography made 115 runs for eight, which, in reply, Department of Urdu chased in 13.1 overs for the loss of three wickets. Mubashir and Rizwan played match winning knocks of 47 and 34 runs respectively from Urdu.

BADMINTON: The SHTMb beat Law School 2-1: Amit Kumar bt Rahul Gupta 21-10: Gaganpreet Singh lost to Satya Naryan Singh 11-21. Doubles: Amit Kumar and Ganganpreet bt Satya Naryan Singh 21-15. Department of Education beat Department of Chemistry 2-1: Rakesh Kumar bt Bhupinder Singh 22-20; Vishal Sharma loses to Syed Sahil Ali 12-21.
