Allowance of ASHA workers enhanced

Jammu, May 9: The Jammu and Kashmir government today increased the uniform allowance for Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) to Rs 2500 from existing Rs 1000.
 "From this financial year, the allowance for uniform for ASHAs will be enhanced to Rs 2500 from Rs 1000," Health Minister Sham Lal Sharma said at a function in Samba district.
 He said each ASHA worker would be paid Rs 150 as mobile phone bill.  The government would also pay for the private vehicle engaged by ASHAs to escort delivering mother, the Minister said.
