Army conducts major military exercise
Jammu, May 10: Around a week long war exercise undertaken by the Western Command of Army in the plains of Punjab and Jammu concluded today, an official spokesman said.
He said that battle manoeuvres undertaken during the exercise, Rudra Akrosh, was aimed at validating Army's fighting concepts and absorbing new technologies, he said adding that the exercise encompassed all the fighting arms of the Indian Army including approx 20,000 soldiers, tanks, mechanized vehicles, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), Attack Helicopters and front line Fighter Aircraft of the Indian Air Force.
“The exercise envisages sustained manoeuvres, in an air land battle with complete integration of Air Force”, the spokesman said adding that the main aim was to test the preparedness level of forces, as a part of the Integrated Theatre Battle.
Lt Gen S R Ghosh, General Officer Commanding in Chief, Western Command witnessed predominant battle manoeuvres of infantry, mechanized infantry, tanks, artillery, Heliborne troops and surveillance equipment.
