PDD clarifies

Kindly refer the news report “Batamaloo in darkness for resisting metering” by Fazil Qayoom published in your daily today.  We would have appreciated if the learned reporter had sought clarification from PDD authorities including AEE, X-En or CE and published their perspective as well to provide a balanced view point based on facts. Power supply was disconnected only to Tengpora &  Maharajpora area fed from feeder-2 of  R/stn. Danderkhah after their stiff resistance against installation of meters in their area recording more than 80% T&D losses at present. Thereafter the public of these areas attacked the staff posted at the receiving station and compelled them to put off all other feeders which fed Shallapora, Gulberg Colony, S.D Colony etc. The supply remained off due to the law & order problem created by the public and has been restored on 8/5/2012AN only after hectic deliberations between the local representatives, administration & the department wherein they agreed not to object installation of meters.  It is an irony that in spite of entering into an agreement, the consumers again didn’t allow the metering process on 9/5/2012 after restoration of supply. It is the endeavor of the department to provide quality power supply to the consumers but in a civilized society it is also the responsibility of the public to make a judicious use of electric power and extend co-operation to the department in combating illegal drain of electric power.
