Green Valley Edu Instt organises annual cross-country run

Srinagar, May 11: The Green Valley Educational Institute (GVEI) organized annual cross-country for its students here on Friday.
 The event was held in Under-14 boys, girls, Under-17 boys, girls and Under-19 boys.
 For senior boys, the run started from Ashaii Bagh Park (Near Nigeen Club) and it was flagged off by Branch Head HDFC Bank Soura, Altaf Tramboo.
 The girls and junior boys run started from Zain-ul-Aabidin Budshah gate Kashmir University and were flagged off by SHO Nigeen, Imtiyaz Ahmad. Around 700 students of the school participated in the event exhibiting their athletic skills.
 In Under-14 girls, Zarmeen of class 7th finished first, while Mahrosh and Saboora of class 6th finished second and third respectively. In Under-17 girl’s category, Mahak of class 8th finished first while Qurat and Zehra of class 10th finished second and third respectively. In Under-14 boys, Sahil Majeed of class 7th finished first while Hazik of class 7th and Farhan of class 6th finished second and third respectively. In Under-17 boys, Nadeem of class 10th, Azaan of class 10th and Haris of class 8th finished first, second and third respectively.
 In the senior boy’s event of Under-19 category, Sajid of class 12th cruised to victory while Liyakat of class 12th finished second. Afnan Rafi Makhdoomi of class 11 finished third.
 The institute had deputed its staff all along the race course to help athletes in the event of an untoward incident
 With this run, the annual sports activities of the school were kicked off and they are many big events in their kitty for coming months.
 “We are holding the event late as inclement whether played a sport- spoil and we are delighted to see many students taking part in this long distance event. It also shows that the students are taking seriously the sports,” GVEI chairman, MY Wani said.
 “Our institute has earned name in the field of sports and students have brought laurels for us on many occasions,” he said.
