Sumo driver killed in mishap

Kishtwar May 12: Driver of a Tata Sumo was killed in a road mishap at Phagumar area on Doda-Kishtwar road, this afternoon.
Identified as Muhammad Shafi son of Muhammad Ismail resident of Khilani Doda at present Belicherna Jammu, the deceased was driving the ill-fated vehicle (JK02M-7763) which skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge.
The residents alleged that the driver was critically injured in the mishap and was rescued by some locals from the gorge. However, no ambulance was sent to the accident spot and the delay resulted in his death.
The locals also damaged some private vehicles near the accident site after they refused to shift the injured to the hospital.
