Chib elected President of JK Bharat Scouts & Guides

Jammu, May 13: Minister for Medical Education, Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports RS Chib was on Sunday elected new President of J&K Bharat Scouts and Guides.
The Minister took the formal oath and assured that he will work for further strengthening and streamlining of this global movement with dedication and devotion.
Others elected to the association include Dr. Pawan Kotwal as Vice President, Chairperson Inner Call, Roma Wani as Lady Vice President, NA. Khan as State Chief Commissioner, GA Qureshi, Shagufta Parveen and Jaipal Singh as Ex-officio Vice Presidents.
Saying that Scouting forges a spirit of camaraderie among youth, Chib urged youngsters to supplement the efforts of building a peaceful and harmonious society wherein everybody lives with peace, dignity and honour.
He also asked the youth to extend their help to the needy as and when required which in turn fructify in creating a lasting bonding between the people.
He reminded youth about their duties towards the society and said that they have to work to eschew the tendencies of hatred and intolerance which are not in consonance with the high traditions of Indian ethos.
The Minister said that Scouts and guides inculcate in students a sense of discipline and duties towards the society. “The students have the ability and vibrancy to give new colours to the social, political and economic profile of the society so must be nurtured in a right perspective,” he maintained.
He also stressed upon them to follow the principles conceived by the Founder of the movement Lord Baden Powell in 1907.
On the occasion minister also honoured several scouts and guides with life time achievement awards.
Among others, Director Health Services, Dr. Madhu Khullar, Sohail Qazmi, State Commissioner Bharat Scouts and Guides, ID Soni, Joint State Commissioner, Shreshtha Khajuria, (Rtd.) Wing Commander Zonal Commissioner, MM Joshi, Zonal Commissioner Ratish Kapoor, State Training Commissioner, S Sahaj Singh, State Headquarter Commissioner Dr. Gurcharan Singh were present on the occasion.
