PSU condemns KU firing incident
Srinagar, May 15: Peoples Students Union (PSU), the student wing of Peoples Conference, has condemned the “unprovoked police firing” in the campus of University of Kashmir on Monday.
In a statement the PSU President Shafaat Siddiqui said, “Such incidents hurt the dignity of the student community and diminshes the spirit and hope for inclusiveness.”
He said it is hard to expect peace in the Valley when such shameful incidents take place in the highest seat of learning to intimidate the student community. “It is time for the student community to take heed and join hands with us as PSU is devoted to safeguard not only the interests of the students but is also working towards nurturing and encouraging the future leadership among the most educated and learned souls of the society,” he added.
Siddiqui said, “Student politics is a must and has been suppressed in the Valley for quite long as it challenges and provides a better alternative to the traditional political setup that is ridden with maladies of corruption, nepotism and high handedness.”
