Amir Khan stands for truth
Satyamev Jayate is unlike other TV programmes; it serves a social purpose

I am not a television buff; I just hook on some choicest programs. I say it is wastage of time. Today, all we see on television is mere commercialism and moral degradation. Programs are nothing but commercials that teach us that if we do not have this or the other thing then we are nothing. The lives of people are getting dictated by such commercials.
But when it comes to some special appearances that literally have a great impact on our lives, the television turns out a blessing and truly entertaining. I am talking about the savviest Khan of Bollywood –Amir Khan. He is an actor who acts, produces and directs movies with a strong implication on masses with his distinct growth graph, and an achiever of success on his own terms and strategies. His movies are always to be clapped for the strong messages they carry with them.
From the message given through a heart rending movie ‘Tare zameen par’ by playing a role of perfect teacher, he taught a lesson to every parent and teacher that creativity does deserve a place in academics. It truly conveyed a message to the stereotypical fathers, loving mothers, understanding siblings, ruthless teachers and the jeering peers; to the message conveyed through the movie ‘3 idiots’ by playing a role of an engineering student. So incredible to look a student at an age 40! But he is Mr. Perfectionist, so he portrayed it brilliantly. Amir made our parents and teachers think about a few questions. Why choose this generation for revenge? Why getting your children degrees without learning? Why forcing children to choose profession which they consider suitable? Why children end up in failures and committing suicides?
Rang de Basanti movie was thought provoking, soul stirring wake up call for the Indian youth against corruption. It made everyone to rise up and ask for information.
And now the small screen appearance of Amir Khan with his exclusive show ‘Satyamev jayate’ - the phrase being derived from the ancient scripture Mundaka Upanishad, adopted by India as the national motto. Satyamev Jayate- a talk show on star plus anchored by Amir Khan concerning the hard hitting public issues in our society, where people from all sections share their unfiltered emotions with Amir. The most striking feature of this show is that the show is familiar to all age groups and thus families may watch it together. He says, ‘entertainment is not merely meant to make people laugh. Entertainment should touch people’s heart and souls.’ What he said is what he did. Amir has influenced hearts, minds and souls of millions throughout India and abroad with the very first telecast concerning the female feticide.
Watching the show how families want only male child and how female feticide is on rise, watching how a Muslim man in Madhya Pradesh had eaten off his wife’s face because she went ahead with her pregnancy with a girl in her womb…too pity! And the most shocking was how a well educated family of doctors and academics tormented their daughter in law for carrying girl twins.
Following these painful disclosures, Amir brought attention to the badly hit child sex ratio in India. For every 1000 boys there are 914 girls.
This is indeed a concern for our state too. We are no better than the rest parts of India being hit with this unethical practice. Our state J&K is occupying second place in showing a decrease in the number of females per 1000 males.
Amir Khan is doing a commendable job as usual. I say “All is Well’! My dad, fathering four daughters, I being the third one in the row, never let us think for a moment that we were his daughters but loved and tended us with all hard work and care to carve out of us the better humans and his best daughters. My dad is the real Hero. He would quote the poet John Greenleay’s saying ”Blessing on thee, little man, barefoot boy with cheek of tan!” as “Blessing on thee little girl, dressed all in pink, with hair in curl!”
Satyamev jayate is an eye opener show, that can awaken the people to become socially responsible and help the needy. It will enforce the change one needs to bring to uplift his society and make it a better place to live.
Hope everyone understands the relevance of this show as we do through Amir Khan’s movies!
