Tral shuts against thefts
Tral (Pulwama), May 16: This south Kashmir town observed a complete shutdown on Wednesday against frequent thefts in the area. The strike call was given by the Traders Federation.
Shops and business establishments remained closed while traffic was off the roads. “Burglars have stolen property worth lakhs and are still on large. Police have failed to nab them,” locals alleged.
“Many times thieves were arrested. But they were released. This has encouraged burglars to strike at will,” the added.
When contacted the Station House Officer Tral Tariq Ahmad said, “We are on look out for burglars. Allegations about police not taking any action are baseless.”
