Umar wins SP College cycle race

Srinagar, May, 16: Umar Maqbool, of B.Sc third year student cruised to victory in the annual cycle race of SP College held from Nehru Park to Dugga Park here on Wednesday.
The 8-kilometer race was flagged off by the college principal Dr Nazir Ahmad Gilkar and 45 cyclists from different streams of the college participated in this race.
Umar Maqbool of B.Sc final year finished first with the timing of 18:3 minutes while Gowhar Nabi of B.Sc. final year with the timing of 20:4 minutes and Malik Salim of B.Sc. first year finished third with the timing of 23:3 minutes.
Imran Hassan with the timing of 25:4 minutes, Liyaqat Ali with the timing of 26:2 minutes, Zahoor Ahmad with the timing of 26:5 minutes, Afzal Ahmad with the timing of 27:1 minutes, Ishfaq Ahmad with the timing of 27:5 minutes, Javed Ahmad with the timing of 27:8 minutes and Najeeb Ullah with the timing of 28:1 minutes finished fourth to tenth respectively.
After the completion of race the prize distribution ceremony was held in which Dr. Nazir Ahmad Gilkar Principal of the college was chief guest.
The first three position holders received trophies while other ten position holders were received medals from the principal.
Before giving away the prizes principal in his speech explained the aims and objectives and the values of the sports activities to the participants and advised them that they should be ready for the other sports events also.
Gilkar also appreciated the role of sports board members for their role in organizing the event and assured them of full cooperation from the administration side in respect of holding various sports and other co-curricular activities of the college.
