PHE to start drive against potable water misuse
SYED IMRAN ALI HAMDANI
Srinagar, May 19: With the mercury expected to rise in the coming weeks, the Public Health Engineering Department (PHE) has planned to start a drive against the misuse of potable water in kitchen gardens and lawns in the City.
Talking to Greater Kashmir the Executive Engineer PHE, Shafat Hussain Qadeemi said the department would start a drive against misuse of water adding that the “equipment being used for such offence would be seized.”
“Keeping in view the importance of drinking water, it’s otherwise also unethical to misuse it for gardening,” the Xen said.
Qadeemi said special squads would be put into service to conduct surprise raids in the various areas particularly the uptown where residential houses have big lawns.
He appealed the people in general and Masjid Imans in particular to aware consumers about the importance of drinking water and ills of its misuse.
