DM CHAIRS CABLE TV MONITORING COMMITTEE MEET
Udhampur, May 20: The District Level Monitoring Committee for the programmes and advertisements telecast by Cable TV channels in the district met under the chairmanship of District Magistrate (DM) Udhampur who is also the chairman of District Level Monitoring Committee for Private Television Channels, P K Pole, here today.
SSP Udhampur, Mr. Ashkoor Wani, Additional District Magistrate, S.S. Sambyal, Joint Director Planning, Rakesh Jamwal, members of the district level monitoring committee for Pvt. TV Channels and cable operators were present at the meeting.
In the meeting various issues pertaining to telecast, registration, role of district level monitoring committee to enforce cable television networks( Regulation) Act 1995, maintenance of registered by cable operators, submission of monthly reports by cable operators, compulsory transmission of Doordarshan channels and constitution of tehsil level monitoring committees were discussed in detail.
Addressing the meeting, Pole emphasized the need for putting in place a framework to address various issues relating to the better service delivery by the Cable Channels. He sought the necessary feedback and suggestions from the members of the district level monitoring committee for the implementation of the Act.
The District Magistrate issued instructions to the un-registered cable operators running their cable networks in the district to get their cable networks registered with in a week’s time otherwise strict action as warranted under the Act would be initiated against the defaulters. To monitor the private cable TV networks at Tehsil level, the DM also constituted Tehsil level sub committees.
SSP Udhampur, said that media being the third eye plays a constructive role in the healthy dissemination of information to the society.
