University Of Oxford Announces Rhodes Scholarship
The University of Oxford announces Rhodes scholarship for Indian nationals. The Scholarship is initially for a period of two years but if necessary can be extended to a third year.
Eligibility: The Scholarships are open to citizens of India
Candidates must be of such an age that they will have passed their 19th and not have passed 25th birthday on the 1st October, 2013.
Candidates must have at least a first class degree in Humanities, Sciences, Law, Engineering, agriculture or Medicine from an Indian University. Candidates who are in the final year of a Degree course and have exceptionally bright academic record may also apply
Candidates for medical studies should consult the Secretary, as well as the Medical School Offices at Oxford, before submitting an application. Particular difficulties may arise for those wishing to do research in clinical departments
The Scholarship for which application is to be made in 2012 will be tenable from October 2013.

Fellowship on environmental reporting
Print, TV, radio and web journalists from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka can apply for a fellowship.
Panos South Asia offers a fellowship focusing on enhancing climate change awareness and understanding among journalists in South Asia.
The fellowships will support reporting projects on climate change in the region. Fellows will also participate in a training workshop and field trip linking them with their peers from the neighbouring countries to understand climate-related issues from a South Asian perspective.

The European Institutes for Advanced Study (EURIAS) Fellowship Programme is an international researcher mobility programme offering 10-month residencies in one of the 14 participating Institutes.
EURIAS Fellowships are mainly offered in the fields of the humanities and social sciences but may also be granted to scholars in life and exact sciences, provided that their proposed research project does not require laboratory facilities and that it interfaces with humanities and social sciences.

National Geographic offers film grants
The Seed Grant Program funds film projects from indigenous and under represented minority-culture filmmakers year-round and from all reaches of the globe. The program awards up to 16 film projects annually with grants ranging from $1,000 to $10,000.
This grant is open to indigenous and underrepresented minority-culture filmmakers, as well as filmmakers who can demonstrate that they have been designated by indigenous or minority communities to tell their story.

Akshaya Patra - One World Media Fellowships for journalists
Applications are invited from journalists for The Akshaya Patra-One World Media Fellowships on Hunger-2012. This is open to both regular as well as freelance journalists, from mainstream media including print, electronic, radio, online media and news agencies/wires.
The duration of the Fellowship is six-months, from 15th June 2012 to 15th December 2012. The working language of these fellowships will be English and Hindi. The larger theme is of hunger and food security.
Selected fellows will each receive a total stipend of Rs 60,000 to support their research study and writing through the given period of 6 months. Each fellow will also get a book allowance of Rs 5,000, and travel reimbursement on-actuals subject to an upper limit of Rs 35,000.

Democracy Grant and Fellowships Program (DGF)
The purpose of this project is to provide technical assistance to USAID’s Center of Excellence on Democracy, Human Rights and Governance to help develop a pool of committed democracy, conflict and humanitarian assistance professionals at the junior, mid- and senior-levels; to strengthen relations between USAID and academic, think-tank and research organizations; and to promote research and innovative solutions to democracy, human rights and governance programs.
The goal of DGF is to improve the effectiveness of USAID’s democracy, conflict and humanitarian assistance programs in developing countries by developing and increasing the capacity of international development professionals, as well as to promote research and innovation in these sectors.
